Jean Brownhill founded Sweeten (as in "home, sweet home") in 2011 after a maddening attempt at renovating her own Brooklyn townhouse. Contractors in the network must meet a high standard and are accountable to get the work done right.

It was 2013 and Megan had a little sister who needed to wear a bra for girls but was offered the bras for women.  They found only padded, push up bras with wiring. It was the time when she realized that the market needed comfortable, age-appropriate bras for teens.

That was when she thought of setting up her own company, Yellowberry using her savings.  She was only 17 then, was a busy high school junior and a nationally ranked competitive skier. She also launched a Kickstarter campaign that raised $41,795 and she began manufacturing and shipping bras.

Media around the country picked up on Megan’s story—Fortune magazine, Fast Company, The Huffington Post, The New York Times, Good Morning America, The Today Show and others.

She was selected as one of TIME Magazine’s 25 Most Influential Teens in 2014.  Huffington Post named her one of the 14 Most Fearless Teens in 2014. In 2015, Megan was named one of the 24 Millennials to Watch by Yahoo.

She has been featured on the TODAY Show, The New York Times, Fast Company, Inc. Magazine, Forbes Magazine, Seventeen and Teen Vogue.  

She served as a member of the Barbie Global Advisory Board in 2015. She is a recipient of the 2016 Thiel Fellowship Grant and was named to the 2016 Forbes 30 Under 30 list in Retail and Ecommerce.

At first, Christine had been mulling on setting up her own business but was afraid to leave her day job for fear of losing her income. Yet she kept thinking about doing what she was passionate about. She even prayed to get laid off just to have a reason to leave.  She was not laid off. Something made her finally resign from her job. After she did, she asked herself:  Why didn’t I do it sooner?

The deep grief of losing her daughter was, later on, transformed into positive creativity.  She moved forward with a passionate determination to keep pursuing her dreams.  Today Christine owns several businesses and helps other businesses get to the top and entrepreneurs to grow and evolve toward what they want to become. This episode features Joya Dass, the American TV anchor of NY1 and host of the popular Saturday morning entertainment show AVS and a former Film Director at The Rockefeller Foundation. She has been onTV for the past 18 years already. She lives in New York City but dreams of settling down in Frankfurt when it’s time for her to settle down.


Joya is a speaker, emcee, and moderator. Her 18 years in television enables her to support a women’s networking initiative called “LadyDrinks”  (  to host monthly  events designed to assist small business entrepreneurs of South Asia.  Under her production outfit, Joya Dass Productions, she has produced and directed a series of photo essays and social justice documentary films.
